The Benefits of Using a Water Filter Bottle

This List provides 6 of the most notable Benefits of Using a Water Filter Bottle

With single-use plastic bottles causing so much harm to our wildlife and the environment around them, an alternative to clean safe water needs to be found. Step up filter water bottles! These bottles are a fantastic way to conveniently get clean safe water that tastes just as good as bottled water without causing massive harm to our planet.

We've have been producing our own filter water bottles since 2010. As such we have gained lots of feedback about why people use the filter bottles and the wide-ranging benefits of these bottles.

Eliminates Harmful Bacterias and Viruses

Probably the most important aspect of a filter water bottle is that it will keep you safe no matter the quality of water you're drinking. Being able to drink from water sources all over the world is a fantastic benefit of carrying a filter bottle with you as it means you'll be able to stay hydrated in almost any situation.

Making sure you can drink safe clean water with confidence you won't get ill can be a priority, especially if you are travelling to places like India and Africa where you might not be able to trust the tap water. For this reason, a filter water bottle can be very important for your health.

How are Filter Water Bottles able to remove Bacterias and Viruses?

There are a few different techniques out there for water filtration, however, the 99.99% effective Water-to-Go filter uses a 3 in 1 filter technology. The filter itself combines three technologies, consisting of one traditional technology and 2 nano-technologies. The traditional technology is an activated carbon filter which is purely used to improve the taste and smell on the water. The first nano-technology is a nano alumina tiny micro glass strands, blocking bacterias from travel through. The second nano-technology is a positive charge along the micro glass strands that expands when wet to a size that cannot allow viruses through the filter.

Removes Chemicals such as Chlorine, Fluoride and Lead

As well as removing microbiological contaminants water filter bottles can also remove or heavily reduce chemical concentrations in water, making the water not only purer but also healthier.

Even chemicals commonly used in the treatment of water such as chlorine are reduced through the use of filter water bottles. This means even tap water taste better and the water you're drinking will be purer from both a microbiological perspective and a chemical perspective. For this reason, using a filter bottle daily is especially beneficial if your water tastes especially chemically.

Specific Chemicals that the Filters Remove

It's important to note that the specific chemicals that are filtered out and to what extent varies depending on the filtration system you choose. However, in the case of the Water-to-Go filter bottle, testing results show the filter is able to remove these chemicals and heavy metals:

  • Chlorine
  • Fluoride
  • Lead, Gold, Silver
  • Chromium, Mercury, Nickel, Copper, Iron
  • Volatile Organic Compounds

Reduces your Plastic Waste Footprint

With the world's plastic pollution problem being a bigger issue than ever, there has never been a better time to get yourself a reusable water bottle. Carrying one with you will help you stop buying single-use plastic water bottles, one of the largest contributors towards plastic pollution.

The additional benefit of getting yourself a filter water bottle means you can drink water safely from any water source. So in situations where you may not be able to trust the tap water, say on holiday in India or Africa for example, you won't need to revert to single-use bottles as a safe water solution at any time.

Just how much does this Benefit the Plastic Pollution Problem?

It's hard to estimate exactly how much of an effect this will have as it depends on your own consumption of single-use plastic bottles. However, if you were to use the bottle purely as a replacement for single-use plastic bottles, one of Water-to-Go's 75cl filters would reduce your usage by 400 plastic bottles. On a personal level, this can make a huge difference especially when reusable bottles are taken up by larger groups of people.

Any Water will Taste Good

For many, removing viruses and harmful bacteria may be a useful element, but not entirely necessary if they're drinking for a reliable source already. So another benefit of the water filter bottle is that it will improve the taste of tap water, no matter how clean the water originally is.

The slightly more basic activated carbon filter is extremely effective when it comes to altering and improving the taste of water. This means you can drink from any fresh water source and it will taste and smell as if it has always been clean pure water.

Saves you Money

Another element of replacing single-use plastic bottles is that a filter bottle will significantly reduce your spending per litre on water. Whilst the initial cost of bottled water will be cheaper, it makes much more sense, in the long run, to opt for a filter water bottle instead.

How much will I be Saving with a Filter Bottle?

When it comes to bottled water, the average price per litre in the UK is currently 65 pence per litre. This means that per litre you will be making a significant saving, as most filter bottles will end up costing you less the 10 pence per litre. For example, using the Water-to-Go filter bottle will cost you 5 pence per litre, meaning you'll be making a 60p saving for each litre of water you would buy.

Health Benefits for Children during Pregnancy

Another interesting feature of water filter bottles is that they can provide health benefits, which can be particularly important for pregnant women and their children. I'm sure during this period you will be taking great consideration as to your eating habits, so surely it is just as important to think about the water you're drinking as well.

The reason filter water bottles are able to provide health benefits is through the harmful contaminants they remove. As previously mentioned, water filters are able to filter out microbiological and chemical contaminants that can have negative health effects. Simply put water from a filter bottle is a healthier option than just tap water.
